Why Working As A Welder Is Even Better Than It Seems

At first, you may assume welding is like any other job. You show up from about 9:00 - 5:00, do what your manager asks, and the days wear on. But here's the thing: welding is better than that. The profession, unbeknownst to many, has so many advantages and perk. Here are a few reasons it's really awesome to work as a welder.

1. You get the satisfaction of having built something

Whenever you weld two pieces of metal together, you are constructing something. You can look back at your work every day, or even every hour, and think to yourself "wow, I made that." This is innately satisfying, as it is only human to want to see the fruits of your labor! Sure, others will be working on the project, too, but it will be your welds that bring it all together, and it's easy to feel a lot of ownership over your work for that reason.

2. It pays well

Welding is a real skill. It takes a lot longer to learn to weld than it does to learn to hang drywall, or even to paint. As a welder, you are always going to be learning new skills and bettering yourself, too. As such, the pay for welders tends to be higher than for many other trades. You can earn a living wage from day one, and it's only uphill from there.

3. You can move into different industries to keep things interesting

There are so many different industries that need welding jobs. Some work in the automotive industry. Others work on commercial buildings, and still others on marine structures. If you are the kind of person who gets bored often, you can always move into a different industry and weld in a different environment. The skills will be highly transferable, but you'll be making different things.

4. Welding is not going anywhere

While many industries have found ways to automate some of the manufacturing processes, welding is not going anywhere. There's simply no automated way to attach two pieces of metal as precisely as a human welder can do it. As such, you know you have job security for a good, long time in this industry.

If you have been thinking of becoming a welder, doing so is a very good choice. You can enjoy all of the benefits above by becoming a part of this lucrative trade.
